AAEP Spring Farrier Clinic

AAEP hosts the Spring Farrier clinic for local farriers in Iowa to attend to compete as well as learn from Iowa State University's own resident farrier, Doug Russo. This event is also open to veterinary students from Iowa State and surrounding veterinary schools to learn about equine podiatry.

This event is for local farriers and vet students to learn about equine podiatry, pathology, and hoof health. Farriers and vet students will compete together in a contest about shoeing.

Participants will proceed through 5 events attempting to do as many reps/perform the exercise as long as possible in an attempt to earn points. Each participant will perform each of the events once until they reach failure. A participant may opt out of any event for health and safety reasons/personal preference however those points will be forfeited (no exercise can be done twice). Participants will progress through the exercises in the order listed. If a participant chooses to cease doing an exercise or fails to complete a rep/continue an exercise they will have 30 seconds to start the proceeding exercise. Each participant will be assigned 1-2 individual timers/judges that will follow them and record their point score throughout the competition. Points will be awarded as follows: Squats -max number of bodyweight squats in two minutes (1 point per rep) Each rep must break parallel. Hands must be interlocked behind the neck or crisscrossed across the shoulders Push Ups -max number of bodyweight push ups in two minutes (1 point per rep) Each rep must have the elbows break 90 degrees. Deadlift -max amount of weight moved in one minute (1 point per 25 pounds lifted) Participant will choose the amount of weight desired on the bar ahead of time-this weight cannot be changed. They will then proceed to do as many reps as possible within the one minute time frame. Participant can pull sumo or conventional. Participant cannot use chalk, a belt, straps, etc. All reps must be fully locked out and returned to the ground under control. Pull Ups -max number of pull ups in two minutes (2 points per rep) OR max amount of time performing a chin hang (1 point per 15 seconds) Participants cannot do both; they much choose one. Participant must dead hang in-between each rep if doing pull ups. Participants time will end the first time their chin falls below the bar or at the two minute mark. Participant cannot let go of the bar. Sit Ups -max number of sit ups in two minutes -(1 point per 10 sit ups) Participant must keep their hands interlocked behind their head. Elbows must touch their thighs when in the up position. Shoulder blades must touch the ground in the down position. Someone may hold down the participants ankles. When: Check in will be from 8:30am-9:15am. Event Time: 9:30am-Noon Where: State Gym, Iowa State University Campus, Ames, Iowa Who: Open to the public. Participants must be 18 years or older. How much: Early Registration is $10 through February 28th ($15 after) All participants without an ISU ID will be a charged an additional $6 the day of the event for a daily pass to use the recreation facilities. Register by February 28th to secure your t-shirt. Categories: Male: Over/Under 200 lbs Female: Over/Under 170 lbs.

conference and non-conference games. The dates of these games are March 19th against Augustine in Ames, March 25th against Iowa in Ames, April 1st against Kansas in Lawrence, and a tournament April 8th and 9th in DeKalb, Illinois.

Club Softball Games vs. Iowa

We will need access to the softball field at 9am on Saturday to start warm-ups. Game times will begin at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm. We will play seven innings each game which will last approximately two hours each. NCSA certified umpires will be paid via payment vouchers from our club and we expect an audience of around 50 people consisting of family and friends of the players.
